Happy Birthday wishes go out to Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio who turns 51 years old today. Mary is best know to me as "Maid Marian" in the movie, "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" with Kevin Costner. I learned that the role was originally to be played by Robin Wright but she became pregnant and was replaced.

Mary was born in Lombard, Illinois and was raised in Oak Park, Il. She attended the University of Illinois. Mary is married to director Pat O'Conner and they have two sons, Jack and Declan. They currently live in London.

Mary started her film career in the movie, "Scarface" with Al Pacino playing Pacino's sister. She was nominated for an Oscar and Golden Globe award for her performance in the movie, "The Color of Money" with Paul Newman and Tom Cruise. I also remember her as the fishing boat captain in the movie, "The Perfect Storm" with George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg. She has a recurring role in the TV series, "Gone Without a Trace."

Mary is also an accomplished singer. She has appeared on Broadway in such musicals as "West Side Story," and "Man of La Mancha" and is currently in "A View from the Bridge" at the Duke of York's Theatre in London.
