Happy Birthday wishes go out to Kathleen Quinlan who turns 55 years old today. Kathleen Denise Quinlan was born in Pasadena, California, but grew up in Mill Valley, California. Kathleen is married to actor Bruce Abbot and they have one son, Tyler.

Kathleen started out her acting career with the part of "Peg" in the 1973 pulp classic, "American Graffiti." She also had parts in popular TV series at the time including "Police Woman," "Ironside," "The Waltons," and "Kojak." I remember her from her roll as "Wendy" in the movie, "Lifeguard" with Sam Elliott.

Kathleen received a Screen Actors Guild Award and Academy Award and Golden Globe Award nominations for her performance as "Marilyn Lovell", the wife of astronaut "Jim Lovell" (Tom Hanks) in the movie, "Apollo 13."

I also enjoyed her in the movie, "The Doors" with Val Kilmer. Kathleen played Jim Morrison's Celtic Pagan lover, Patricia Kennealy. One scene showed them taking coke and dancing around her house naked. Who wouldn't love a scene like that!!!

Interestingly, Patricia Kennealy-Morrison was a consultant for the making of the movie and had a small part in it. She and Jim Morrison were married in a Celtic Pagan hand fasting ceremony. She still uses Morrison's last name, even though Morrison wrote in his will, "I am an unmarried man."

Along with her film career, Kathleen starred in the TV series "Family Law" and is currently in the TV series "Prison Break."
